Venezuela's tax collection agency temporarily shut down the offices of the Venezuelan newspaper El Impulso on Tuesday, citing noncompliance with tax regulations.
The daily, based in the western city of Barquisimeto, was closed for 24 hours and fined 28.5 million bolivars (US$13,200), the tax agency said in a statement.
Juan Manuel Carmona, president of El Impulso, is also vice president of the Inter-American Press Association, and he questioned whether the government action could have something to do with recent statements by the ...
