WASHINGTON -- Following today's vote on a federal spending bill for the
Departments of Education, Labor and Health and Human Services, Congressman
Harold Ford released the following statement:

"I did not support today's appropriations bill because it hurts American
families. People across the nation and in Tennessee want Congress to focus
on creating conditions that make it easier for them to get a good education
for their kids, keep secure and provide affordable healthcare so that
