Statement of General James L. Jones Commander, USMC Committee on Senate
Foreign Relations September 28, 2005 Mr. Chairman, Senator Biden, and distinguished
members of the Committee, thank you for the opportunity to appear before
you today to discuss the situation in the Darfur region of Sudan. In addition
to discussing the North Atlantic Treaty Organization`s mission to support
the African Union`s Mission in Sudan, I also want to share U.S. European
Command`s broader strategy for Africa that is designed to protect U.S.
