AFL: Aka rips Cats to shreds

BRISBANE, June 19 AAP - Jason Akermanis shocked even himself with a virtuoso hand in
Brisbane's menacing AFL trouncing of Geelong today.

Lions coach Leigh Matthews could not recall a better display by his livewire midfielder,
describing his stunning input "monstrous" in the 69-point hiding at a rain-sodden Gabba.

Akermanis, himself, was reluctant to compare past performances but was not coy about
his form -- rating his 2005 season better than 2001 when he earned his Brownlow Medal.
