Vessel inspections conducted by CSLC staff revealed similarly
high compliance rates. During the 2003- 2004 period, 2318
inspections were completed. Less than 5% of the noted violations
were associated with operational aspects of the law, which
2003, CSLC initiated a procedure to ensure that any violations
identified during inspections were corrected in advance of the
vessel`s next visit to California waters. A letter detailing any
violations noted during inspections and appropriate corrective
