Poor response to 'return to work' offer

PUTRAJAYA, Wed. - There's not been a good response to the month- long

offer to immigrant workers repatriated under the amnesty to return for
employment on tourist visas.

Only 159, mainly Indonesians, have taken up the offer over the past two

weeks.

The programme ends on June 30.

One of the reasons for the poor response was employers' ignorance of

the procedures, Immigration enforcement chief Datuk Ishak Mohamed said

here today.
