In the two decades between the two world wars, a number of Jews became
prominent in the Socialist and Communist parties in Europe, devoting their
entire lives to the "revolution." They hated their Jewishness and believed
that by destroying the prevailing socioeconomic system, mankind would be
redeemed and anti-Semitism would vanish.

Wishful thinking. Historian Paul Johnson, in his epic book A History of the
Jews called these misguided believers "non-Jewish Jews."
