Maryland religious leaders on April 20 urged Gov. Robert Ehrlich to sign a
bill that would force large companies of 10,000 workers or more to invest
more funds in employee health care benefits.

Ehrlich has threatened to veto the so-called Fair Share bill, although it
passed with a veto-proof majority in the General Assembly, claiming that it
creates a penal environment for businesses in this state. If he carries out
that threat, lawmakers will have to wait until next January to invoke an
override.
