Thursday, May 26, 2005 -- Greek Orthodox Patriarch Irineos I was ostensibly dismissed by the the synod of Jerusalem because of his involvement in the sale of the denomination's property to Jews. And on Tuesday, the Istanbul synod, a pan-Orthodox summit, declared it would no longer recognize Irineos I as patriarch of Jerusalem.
