Fed: How Mel Brooks made Nazi Germany funny

SYDNEY, May 24 AAP - They say if you've got it, flaunt it.

And that's exactly what film director Mel Brooks has done with his hit musical The Producers.

Five years on the comedy, based on Brooks' 1968 film, has won 12 Tony Awards and is
still filling 95 per cent of seats in a Broadway theatre.

The Australian version of the show, starring TV legend Bert Newton and theatre veterans
Tom Burlinson and Reg Livermore, opened in Melbourne a year ago.
