Fed: Tax cuts win big tick - from the rich

CANBERRA, May 18 AAP - Treasurer Peter Costello has boosted the confidence of high
income earners with his planned tax cuts, but only gained a shrug of approval from those
set for a $6 a week windfall.
The Westpac-Melbourne Institute index of consumer sentiment released today found that
when it came to confidence in the economy, wage level and prospective tax cuts are closely
linked.
The survey surged 9.5 per cent in May, its biggest monthly gain in about two years
