Britain's Prince William to join British Lions on their rugby tour of New Zealand in July

Britain's Prince William will fly to New Zealand in July to support the British and Irish Lions rugby union tour, royal and team officials said Monday.

Clarence House, the office of William's father, Prince Charles, said the 22-year-old, who is second in line to the British throne, would also carry out his first solo official royal duties during the trip.

He will attend events in Auckland and Wellington marking the end of World War II on behalf of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
