MORE than 2,000 convicted criminals are expected to be released on parole

once the parole system is implemented next year.
Deputy Internal Security Minister Chia Kwang Chye said based on latest

statistics (April 2005), 7,000 criminals will be eligible to apply forand

about 30 per cent (2,100) are expected to be granted parole.

He said the system would reduce the congestion in Malaysian prisons and
