Deacon Rubik Mailian, the Choral Director and Pastoral Assistant of St.
John's Armenian Church of Greater Detroit, was invited to take part with
fifteen world scholars in a conference on early sacred music. The
conference took place from February 18-20, 2005 and celebrated the 120th
anniversary of Egon Wellesz, a pioneer in Byzantine musicology. He was
invited by the Center of Spirituality East-West, Michael Lacko Scholar and
Research Center of the Theological Faculty of the University of Trnava,
Komenskeho in Kosice, Slovakia.
