I recently went to India after nearly half a decade. Unlike many Indians
overseas I've never felt the umbilical pull towards the motherland. New
York is home for me and has been for 20 years and I get my fill of parents
during the year even with one being an international nomad. So I've never
felt a particular need to go to India to 'visit' though I've always craved
traveling through it and exploring some of the tourist zones.
This trip was brought on by a cousin's wedding. My mother sounded so
hopeful when she asked me to come that I simply couldn't say no. So I
