U.S. federal authorities are accusing Russia's former atomic energy chief of stealing as much as $9 million from the U.S. Department of Energy that was supposed to be used to help Russia improve its nuclear safety, his lawyers said. The atomic scientist, Yevgeny Adamov, 65, will soon face an indictment in Pittsburgh charging him with multiple counts of fraud and money-laundering, felonies that could lead to many years in prison if he is convicted, the lawyers said Tuesday.
