The Committee on Indian Affairs (the Committee), headed by Senator John
McCain (R-AZ), recently responded to the Committee on the Budget's request
for views and estimates on the President's FY 2006 budget. Senator McCain,
writing for the Committee on Indian Affairs stated "Although we agree with
the President's goals of funding programs with proven performance
accountability and reducing the federal deficit, we disagree with many of
the proposed funding cuts and the priorities set out in the budget."
