The setting: it's almost midnight in March 1959 in a South Philadelphia
nightclub, Emerson's Bar & Grill, where legendary jazz singer Billie
Holiday is about to perform.
The life, times and music of jazz legend Billie Holiday will be celebrated
in the Contemporary American Theatre Company's production of "Lady Day at
Emerson's Bar and Grill" March 4-27 at the Vern Riffe Center, 77 High
Street. The Brownstone on Main, 122 Main Street, will host an exclusive
one-week run of the show March 31-April 3.
