SA: Truck drivers exceeding minimum travel times

ADELAIDE, April 20 AAP - Ten per cent of truck drivers travelling between Sydney and
Adelaide are exceeding minimum travel times, the South Australian government said today.

SA Transport Minister Patrick Conlon said spot testing of an electronic monitoring
system, known as Safe-T-Cam, showed truck drivers were not taking sufficient breaks.

Regulations require heavy vehicle drivers to travel no more than 12 hours a day, with
a 30 minute rest break every five-and-a-half hours.
