Fed: Japanese spies lived in Australia, says academic
CANBERRA, April 12 AAP - Small bands of Japanese spies lived on the Australian mainland
and tiny islands off the coast during World War II, a researcher has claimed.
The Japanese during WWII were known to have entered Australian waters in midget submarines
and equipment has washed up on beaches.
But Hiromi Tanaka, a professor of war history at Japan's national defence academy,
said incursions by his countrymen had gone further.
