Residents in the Dutch Caribbean territory of Curacao overwhelmingly voted in a nonbinding referendum to break away from the Netherlands Antilles and become an autonomous country within the Netherlands.

But residents in the island of St. Eustatius voted to remain in the Netherlands Antilles, a federation of five Dutch Caribbean islands administered by a government in Curacao.
