National Science Foundation renews Cornell U. Arecibo contract

(Cornell Daily Sun) (U-WIRE) ITHACA, N.Y. -- You may have seen it in such hit films as "Goldeneye" and "Contact" or perhaps on an episode of "The X-Files," but Cornell University will be in charge of it for at least another five years.
The National Science Foundation renewed the University's contract for the Arecibo Observatory, which Cornell has been associated with since its conception, after a 15 month-long competition for management with the Universities Space Research Association (USRA) on March 30.
