Fed: Tourism industry halved by a bureaucratic pen

CANBERRA, April 8 AAP - Australia's tourism industry has been cut in half in a single
bureaucratic swipe by the Productivity Commission.
In a report on the amount of government assistance paid to the tourism industry, the
commission said it could not use the generally accepted definition of tourism.
From the World Trade Organisation down, tourism is given a fairly broad definition
by most economic agencies and governments.
