Vienna strips eight graves of honorary status because of Nazi past

Vienna has stripped eight dead Nazis of honors bestowed on them by the city, saying their graves do not deserve a special status qualifying them for free maintenance, an official said Thursday.

Vienna's Central Cemetery has a special section for some of the city's most prominent residents. The city pays for maintenance of the so-called honorary graves and lists them in guides to the cemetery.
