A Chasidic teaching attributed to Rabbi Mendel of Kotzk begins with the
seemingly simple question "Where is the dwelling of God?" and continues
with the seemingly simple response - "God dwells wherever we let God in.
The rabbi must have understood that, in order to experience the sacredness
that may be savored at any moment, we must first be open to the fact that
holiness is available at all times. The challenge is to cultivate that
ability, and open ourselves to the call of the sacred.
