Fed: Costello tells Qld to cut state taxes or else
CANBERRA, March 22 AAP - Federal Treasurer Peter Costello has warned Queensland it
must cut state taxes.
Mr Costello said Queensland had benefited more than any other state from the introduction
of the GST.
"Over the last three years Queensland has already received a $1.3 billion windfall
in GST revenue. It has so far refused to use this windfall to cut state taxes," he said
in a statement released overnight.
"Over the next four years Queensland will receive a $3.3 billion windfall from the GST."
