SA: Car maker challenges the family car concept

ADELAIDE, March 8 AAP - The traditional view that family cars must be large sedans
has been challenged by Japanese producer Daihatsu.

The company believes changing circumstances, including higher petrol prices and increasing
urbanisation, means the family transport is getting smaller.

And it is backed up to some degree by sales figures which show an increase in the small
and light car market in Australia at the expense of medium-sized vehicles.
