Jordan is backing the Palestinian demand for a role in negotiations with Israel to build a canal to bring water to the Dead Sea, the official Jordanian news agency Petra said Monday.

In talks in the Jordanian capital, Jordan's Foreign Minister Hani al-Mulqi and chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat agreed Monday to coordinate for the proposed trilateral negotiations with Israel on a canal from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea, Petra reported.
