The chief of Dominica's Carib Indians on Sunday criticized what he said were plans to portray the group as cannibals in the upcoming Disney sequel to the 2003 blockbuster "Pirates of the Caribbean."

Dominica's government has said the U.S. studio is planning to use the tiny island as a location for the production, which could begin shooting here in April.

Several hundred Dominicans have applied to be extras in the film, including some Caribs.
