STATUE OF ST. GREGORY THE ILLUMINATOR TO BE INSTALLED IN VATICAN JAN. 19

A statue of St. Gregory the Illuminator, sculpted out of Carrara marble by
Khatchik Kazandjian of Paris, will be officially inaugurated by His
Holiness Pope John Paul II in the Vatican on January 19, 2004.
The almost 18-feet-high statue weighing 26 tons will take its place in the
only niche still remaining empty among the high niches that house the
statues of famous saints at St. Peter's, along the walls leading to the
famous Basilica. However, unlike the other niches toward which the visitors
hardly cast a glance, the niche of the Illuminator, being situated right
