The U.S. Supreme Court's 1954 ruling that separate was decidedly not equal
in the Brown v. Board of Education case, empowered leaders of the Civil
Rights Movement to an extent and degree that surprised segregationists and
drove the evil beast of bigotry back on its heels.

The whirlwind that segregationists were to reap, erupted in Alabama when a
gentle lady named Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of a Montgomery
bus. The bus boycott followed, symbolizing the focal point of Rev. Martin
Luther King Jr.'s moral crusade.
