Sqsh: Mather retires after New York loss

NEW YORK, Feb 4 AAP - Australia's Heidi Mather announced her retirement from world
squash following her loss to English second seed Fiona Geaves in the first round of the
Vassar Class of '32 Open in New York.

The New South Wales 26-year-old won the opening game 9-4 but then fell 9-2 9-1 9-7
to Geaves to finish her career as world No.37.

Mather, who started her professional career in 2001, reached a career high ranking of 30 in 2003.
