Thursday, February 3, 2005 -- I attended Ephraim Kishon's funeral this week in Tel Aviv not only because I knew him for more than half a century or because he was a genius but because he never missed an opportunity to employ his unique talents in the defense of Israel.

Kishon's genius as a satirist, cinema director, dramatist and publicist was so unusual that I believe had he come as a young Hungarian refugee to the US and not to Israel, he would have become one of the greatest ...
