Tuesday, February 1, 2005 -- With inflation coming in at 1.2 percent for 2004, "a certain rise in the interest rate will be required" during the next 12 months to keep within the government's 1-3% inflation target, acting Bank of Israel governor Meir Sokoler said Monday.

Inflation for 2005 is currently expected to be between 1% and 2.5%, although unforeseen global developments could change that, according to the central bank's biannual inflation ...
