Punjab police's NRI cell a hit

The Punjab police is overwhelmed with the response to its Non Resident
Indian cell. The 10-man special team, which looks into NRI grievances, was
formed February 2004. "Since then, we have received 225 complaints via
e-mail, post and fax. We have managed to solve 166 of them," said Inspector
General of Police Sanjeev Gupta, who heads the cell.

"In 40 cases, we found false cases had been registered. Most of them were
dowry-related complaints by people who had got their daughters married to
