Just off of a 122-year hiatus, one of New York's newest shows this season
also might be one of the oldest. The Folksbiene Yiddish Theatre, now in its
90th year, presents Abraham Goldfaden's musical production "A Novel
Romance" on its Mainstage this season. The play, which originally was
staged in Romania, made its New York premiere in 1882. It has not been
performed in The Big Apple since, and it revisits the city with a recent
adaptation and revival by director and translator Allen Lewis Rickman.
