Indianapolis' own Mt. Zion Baptist Church has seen its members and the
African-American community at large through many historic trials that have
tested a resilient people, from racial discrimination shortly after the
Civil War and poverty of the Great Depression in the 1930s, to both World
Wars and the civil rights movement.

This week members of the church "that dares because it cares" are making
preparations to celebrate 135 years of the God-given success their
congregation has enjoyed in meeting the spiritual and social needs of
