Two women's World Cup downhills rescheduled for Santa Catarina

The Italian resort of Santa Catarina is taking over a pair of women's World Cup downhills that were wiped out by snow storms in Val d'Isere, France, earlier this month, the International Ski Federation said Thursday.

The two downhills are to run Jan. 6-7, said federation spokeswoman Sonja Reichen-Platzer.

Santa Catarina was already scheduled to host two lower tier European Cup races, making it possible to add the downhills, races that only a few resorts have the terrain to accommodate.
