Fed: Aust medical teams leave for tsunami zone

CANBERRA, Dec 29 AAP - Two Australian medical teams including surgeons and rescue paramedics
will leave today to help thousands of victims in the tsunami zone.

Australian chief medical officer Professor John Horvath said the two teams, which will
leave from Sydney, follow a medical assessment team sent to Phuket yesterday.

Eight Australians are confirmed dead in the wake of the Indian Ocean tsunami and at
least eight are missing.

Thousands of Australians were in the countries hit by the tsunami waves.
