Dr. Gaguik Hovakimian, a prominent scientist and former Member of
Parliament in Iran, passed away on March 9, 2004 in Paris, France. He was
92.

Dr. Hovakimian was born on July 15, 1911 in the city of Babol in the north
of Iran, where his father, Manuel Hovakimian Bakhtiari, started a
flourishing import-export business with neighboring Azerbaijan. Dr.
Hovakimian completed his elementary and high school studies in Tehran, and,
in 1929, departed for Europe to begin his undergraduate studies in Latin,
Greek, chemistry, biology and pharmacy at the University of ...
