KAMPALA, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Uganda loses over 100 million US dollars annually
from inefficiencies along the marketing chain due to bulkiness of bananas,
high transport costs, poor handling and lack of processing into shelf-stable
products, reported local press on Friday.
Dr. James Ssemwanga, researcher and consultant was quoted as saying
the 100 million dollars is 22 percent of the produce in the east African
country.
Uganda produces 10 to 11 million tons of bananas annually from 1.6
