Fed: Eighty per cent of 12-year-olds drink alcohol

ADELAIDE, Nov 23 AAP - Eighty per cent of 12-year-olds have drunk alcohol, a national
survey has found.

The survey also found nine out of 10 students aged 14 had tried alcohol, with the figure
increasing to 95 per cent for 17-year-olds.

The National Drug Strategy survey, taken in 2002, found the proportion of students
aged 12 to 15 who were drinking alcohol was unchanged since the previous survey in 1999.
