Aruba is a popular vacation spot located in the Caribbean Sea, just North
of Venezuela.
However the beautiful island has an intriguing history. The island was
first inhabited by Caquetios Indians from the Arawak tribe. The nation was
later controlled by the Spanish, Dutch and English at varying times after
being colonized in 1499. Today, the country remains part of the Netherlands
- even though it operates independently.
