rosary. A form of prayer in which 15
decades of
Hail Marys are recited, each decade being preceded by the
Lord's Prayer and followed by the
Gloria Patri; the prayers are counted on a string of beads or sometimes on a
ring. Each decade is accompanied by meditation on one of a sequence of
Mysteries (q.v.). Usually only five decades or less are recited at a time.
