Twelve Articles. The main charter of the Peasants' War adopted at Memmingen in 1525. The Peasants' demands included the right to appoint their own pastors, control over tithes, and the abolition of serfdom. M. Luther expressed agreement with the Articles, though he opposed the attempt to achieve these ends by revolt.
