Streeter, Burnett Hillman (1874–1937), NT scholar. From 1905 to 1933 he was a Fellow of Queen's College, Oxford (Provost from 1933 to 1937) and from 1915 to 1934 also a canon of
Hereford. His researches into the
Synoptic Problem helped to establish among English Churchmen belief in the priority of Mk. and the existence of
‘Q’. In
The Four Gospels (1924) he set out his conclusions on the Gospels as a whole and expounded his thesis on the
‘Caesarean text’.
