Sigan-Fu Stone. An early monument of the
Church of the East at Sigan-Fu (Sian-fu, Hsi-an-fu, or Xian) in NW
China. Set up in AD 781, it records the arrival in 635 of a missionary from Tuts'in and recounts the fortunes of the Church to date. It is the main witness to the growth of Christianity in the Far East before the 13th cent.
