Second Adam

Second Adam. A title of Christ, the new head of redeemed humanity, as contrasted with the ‘first Adam’, the original member and type of fallen man. The conception goes back to St Paul, whose expression, however, is not the ‘second’ but the ‘last Adam’ (1 Cor. 15: 45).
