Sadoleto, Jacopo

Sadoleto, Jacopo (1477–1547), cardinal from 1536. In 1537 he became a member of the special commission for the reform of the Church and the preparation of a General Council. He tried to win back both P. Melanchthon and the city of Geneva to the RC faith. He was one of the most trusted advisers of Paul III.
