Phos Hilaron. In the E. Church, the hymn sung at ‘Hesperinos’ (the counterpart of the W. Vespers) and the central item in the Office. It is used in some modern Anglican liturgies in Evening Prayer. Translations include J. Keble's ‘Hail! gladdening Light’.
